Princes Street Cycleway Concept

scroll

MRCagney has developed a conceptual design for a protected cycleway running along the full length of Princes Street. Auckland Transport sought to leverage the planned resurfacing of the street as an opportunity to introduce enhanced facilities for sustainable transport modes. MRCagney has provided a set of design options that accommodate pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and kerbside management. The proposed design prioritises cyclist’s safety and comfort, includes a comprehensive redesign of the street’s cross section, and builds on the street’s unique character as the front door to both Albert Park and the University of Auckland. The design was preceded by an extensive analysis of the various ways in which people, public transport and cyclists use the street.
